STATE NOMINATION UPDATE 2022-23

AUSTRALIAN STATES ARE NOW OPEN FOR NOMINATION

ACT NOMINATION ALLOCATION

The interim 2022-23 Nomination Allocation of ACT Published Total 2720 Places Available The ACT received an interim allocation for the 2022-2023 program year.

Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 800 places

Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 1920 places

TASMANIA SKILLED MIGRATION STATE NOMINATION PROGRAM UPDATE

Tasmania has received an interim skilled visa allocation of nomination places from the Australian Government for the 2022-23 program year. This allocation will be revisited after the first quarter of 2022-23 and will not be taken as an indication of the full year’s quota. Tasmania’s interim allocation includes: Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 2000 places

Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 1350 places

TASMANIA PROGRAM UPDATE

The Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will open progressively in phases over the coming weeks.

The initial phase will include successful candidates ‘held over’ from the 2021-22 year as well as the selection, invitation and nomination of candidates in the Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles pathway. Candidates currently residing overseas who are interested in Tasmanian nomination should ensure their Skillselect EOIs are up-to-date and reflect the profiles published on the Migration Tasmania website.

The second phase will open the program to high-priority ‘Gold Pass’ and ‘Green Pass’ applicants.

The final phase will open the program to registrations of interest from all eligible candidates.

Further details regarding each phase of the reopening of the Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will be provided in future updates.

TASMANIA SKILLED MIGRATION UPDATE

SUBCLASS 491 TASMANIAN SKILLED EMPLOYMENT PATHWAY

An error was detected in the Priority Attributes for the subclass 491 Tasmanian Skilled Employment pathway. This has been updated for that pathway only. Minor language changes have been made to some other attributes in all pathways to clarify meaning.

PAINTING TRADES WORKER- TASMANIAN ONSHORE SKILLED OCCUPATION LIST

The caveat related to Painting Trades Workers has been updated: Employer must have operated in Tasmania for at least three years or candidate must have been employed in Tasmania for 12 months

AFGHAN NATION SEEKING AUSTRALIA’S SUPPORT ON PROTECTION VISA’S

Australia has received overwhelming application from Afghanistan for Humanitarian visa. Out of the more than 211,100 individuals seeking refuge in Australia, just 6,000 permanent humanitarian visas have been given to Afghan nationals leaving their country. According to updated data, 5,929 permanent humanitarian visas were issued to citizens of Afghanistan between 15 August 2021 and 31 July 2022. Australian Government is trying best to prioritise applications for this visa and assist them. The department is currently registering applications which were received on 21 September 2021.

VICTORIA’S SKILLED MIGRATION PROGRAM OPEN NOW

Victoria’s Skilled Migration Program is now open to ONSHORE and OFFSHORE applicants. The ROI’s will be assessed until May 2023

Changes For 2022-23 Program

Applicants from both ONSHORE and OFFSHORE can apply. The department will also consider Offshore applicants for subclass 190 upon their eligibility. The Department is currently prioritising health occupations for subclass 491 visa nomination, offshore applicants can also apply for the subclass 491 visa in addition to those who reside in Victoria.

More eligible occupations

All occupations on the relevant Department of Home Affairs occupation list are now eligible, and applicants are no longer required to be using STEMM skills and working in a target sector to apply. For further information on the new eligibility requirements, see:

ROI SUBMISSION FOR VICTORIAN VISA NOMINATION

The last date to submit ROI for Victoria Visa Nomination is 5 May 2023. The ROI form for the 2022-23 program is considerably shorter than in previous years. This is because they also consider the information provided in your SkillSelect EOI in the assessment of your ROI. This will be selected betweeen August 2022- May 2023.

AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS UPDATE

The Australian Association of Social Workers has updated their fees applicable from 11 August 2022. The categories are as follows:

  • International social work qualification AASW accredited social work qualification
  • AASW accredited social work qualifications for Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)
  • Assessment of NZ qualifications under Mutual recognition Agreement
  • Renewal of a skills assessment for migration purposes
  • Administration fee for re-issue of migration/membership assessment notices
  • All assessments

The Australian states have been given interim allocations for state nomination and these allocation has been reasonable in size as compared to previous allocations.
